Eurofins TestOil just announced Comprehensive Oil Analysis Training April 26-28, 2022 in Baton Rouge, LA with an available remote option. The course will strengthen skills and elevate the competency of reliability and maintenance personnel including PdM Technicians, Plant Managers, Reliability Engineers, Reliability Technicians, Service Technicians—anyone involved in a lubrication program who wants to bump up their skills.
Eurofins TestOil Training Unit Business Manager Tim Skully says, “The class is beneficial to anyone involved in the lubrication program at their facility. Whether they are an existing program manager or just starting an oil analysis program, they will learn best practices of oil analysis along with a full understanding of why oil analysis is important.”
The class will cover:
- Lubrication Fundamentals and Theory
- Maintenance Strategies
- Preventative and Predictive Maintenance
- Lubricant Selection
- Lubricant Application
- Lube Condition Control
- Lube Storage and Management
- Oil Sampling
- Lubricant Health Monitoring
- Wear Debris Monitoring and Analysis
This course meets the requirements necessary to challenge Level I Certification exams from both ICML and STLE; relevant certifications are ICML MLA I or MLT I and STLE OMA I. Certification exams are offered on the day after the class and are a half day long. However, obtaining a certification is a plus and definitely not required to reap the many benefits of this class. The cost of the class is $1,495 per person plus the cost of the optional exam.
Tim advises, “Preparation is always helpful and will start the participant off on the right foot.” To that end STLE has a suggested reading list available on their website for OMA-I certification candidates. On their website, ICML has the list of books with the domain of knowledge for both MLT-I and MLA-I exams.
After obtaining first level certifications such as OMA-I, MLT-I, or MLA-I, next level certifications include: OMA-II, MLT-II, MLA-II, and STLE CLS certification.
The instructor for this Comprehensive Oil Analysis class will be Eurofins TestOil Senior Technical Advisor Evan Zabawski. Evan is a Certified Lubrication Specialist with extensive experience training tradesmen and professionals in a variety of fields including: lubrication fundamentals, contamination control, condition monitoring, RCM/FMEA and used oil analysis.

“Becoming certified in oil analysis and lubrication best practices is great for individuals looking to grow their careers,” Tim observes. “Receiving training and improving skills can often lead to increased responsibilities and increased pay as well. As far as benefits to management, research shows that having oil analysis as part of a preventative maintenance strategy leads to huge cost savings in terms of increased machine reliability and decreased downtime.”
