OIL ANALYSIS LABS: WHAT THEY CAN AND CAN’T TEST

Oil analysis labs offer test packages and individual tests based on their market and capabilities. The selection of appropriate tests depends on the type of lubricant, common contaminants, failure modes and type of machinery. For example, there is a commonly recommended test slate for wind turbine lubricants.

    • DEF (Diesel Exhaust Fluid): a liquid used to reduce the amount of air pollution created by diesel engines.

    • Dry Lubricants: such as graphite and molybdenum disulfide that are used in applications such as dry lubricated bearings.
