Troubleshooting Proportional Valves
October 19 @ 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm
Troubleshooting Proportional Valves is a live, educational webinar presented by Jack Weeks of GPM Hydraulic Consulting, Inc.. There is no fee to attend this webinar.
Description: For several years now, economical proportional valves have been rapidly replacing expensive servo valves in many industrial applications requiring accurate speed and positioning control. Overall this has been a great benefit - proportional valves can quite often provide the necessary accuracy at a lower cost. Unfortunately, the maintenance personnel responsible for servicing these machines seldom receive the training they need to troubleshoot and adjust these valves. The result has been that, while the valves themselves are usually less expensive than their servo valve counterparts, the lack of maintenance training causes frequent expensive visits by contractors and dealer reps to keep the machines in service.
In this brief sample webinar, we will show the operation of the direct operated proportional valve and the steps to determine if the valve, the cable and the amplifier are good.
Presenter: Jack Weeks entered GPM’s organization in January of 1997 as a CAD draftsman and hydraulic instructor. He has trained thousands of electricians and mechanics in Hydraulic Troubleshooting methods. His computerized animations have made GPM’s presentations and training CD’s the recognized leader in the industry. Jack is a well-known speaker at many industrial conferences and symposiums. He received his education from the Georgia Institute of Technology School of Electrical Engineering and the Department of State Foreign Service Institute. Jack also taught radio wave propagation for the US Air Force and telecommunications equipment operation and repair for the Central Intelligence Agency at American embassies overseas.
